In the name of

FREE ENTERPRISE

The makers made goods of no use whatever.

Then for these No Goods

Created uses devilishly clever.

To sell deodorants

They created cloth that sweat without labor.

To sell second cars

They put shops in town and houses well out.

To sell warheads

They made up nasty stories about each neighbor.

To sell spectator sports

They created stadia that stayed empty most of the year.

To sell travel they urged people to visit

The places from which their forefathers ran.

To sell pornography they X-rated the naked body.

To sell shotguns

They said a man who didn't shoot ducks

And geese and pheasant wasn't a man.

To sell cigarettes

They said it was mature to be nervous and taut.

To sell retirement cities

They forced people to stop working at mid-life.

To sell computers they claimed

That data was more important than thought.
