Some arrived to dwell alone
And still dwell.
Of peaceful mold
Without a bone of pride or greed
Or desperate need
To sell gun or bead
Themselves as well.
They came to live, to work
To pray their way.
Ignored by fame
Award or sonnet
They pilgrim’d here
Respectful of the earth
And all things on it.
These gentlefolk alas
Stayed separate and few
Shunned for refusing to kill on foreign soil
Over another's point of view.
